Mud is dirty. It gets everywhere, it leaves its mark on everything it touches, waiting to be washed away and cleansed. Mud is the mixing of Earth and water, the in-between of dry and wet. The liminal. The mud is icky and disgusting and gross, and full of nutrients and microbes and the vital ingredients for our world, its tiny creatures that eat at our dead and the decaying, the ones that give what once was a chance at being again, no longer something of the past but now something of the present and then the future. A chance of being, Reborn.

As the series Reborn progresses, the human bodies open up and grow in confidence, coming out of their shielded selves into something proud, fearless, strong. Covered in mud head to toe, they are immersed into the Earth and create a new version of themselves, shedding exoskeletons and old skin to reveal themselves with full unbridled freedom.
